Tacks

Tacks are small aglets used to attach the bootleg under the Brandsohle. This procedure is called tacking.

Tanning

Tanning is the process of turning animal hides into leather by means of different tanning agents. It is based on a chemical reaction between protein molecules of hide and tanning agents. Tanning changes the hide in a way that it does not mould when exposed to moisture, it does not brittle when dry and cannot be destroyed by water.

Toecap

The inner toecap is located between upper leather and inside lining and is used to strengthen the front part of the shoe. For high-quality shoes, it is hand-made from leather. The outer toecap serves the aesthetic design of the shoe and is an attached piece of leather in straight or vaulted shape.

Tree

Nico shoe trees have a spiral spring to keep the shoe in shape with sufficient tension. The antibacterial CONTOUR FLEX made of fine foam regenerates each fashionable shape. CLASSIC FLEX shoe trees made of wood or CEDAR FLEX made of especially easily drying cedar wood care for your shoes optimally from within and avoid kick pleats.

Upper leather

Upper leather or vamp is a generic term for all sorts of leather used for the outer top parts of a shoe in the area of the bootleg. In shoe manufacturing, there is no regulation that dictates the use of leather as upper and there are also no regulation as to the thickness of uppers.
